I’m supporting Henshaws because their work means something deeply personal to me. I live with a visual impairment, and throughout my career in insurance I’ve been fortunate to experience consistent kindness and understanding from colleagues—whether that’s helping me read small print or appreciating the challenges that come with travel and accessibility. That support has shaped my confidence and my career, and it’s something I never take for granted.

When I became President of the Insurance Institute of Manchester, I wanted to choose a charity that genuinely changes lives for people with sight loss and disabilities. Henshaws does exactly that. They help people find independence, connection and confidence in moments that can otherwise feel isolating. Only after choosing them did I discover that I’ve had a link to Henshaws since childhood, through a sports club I used to attend without realising it was run by them. That unexpected connection made the choice feel even more meaningful.

Henshaws’ support is practical, human and life‑changing. Whether someone needs help navigating daily tasks, adapting to new challenges, or simply finding a supportive community, they provide it with warmth and without judgement. I’ve seen first‑hand how important that kind of support can be, and it’s why I’m committed to helping them reach more people.
